Summary

This position is accountable for the management of multiple projects by accounting for all costs and deadlines associated with each project. Project management is required from award of the project through its completion.  The Project Manager develops new business and grows repeat business through relationships they cultivate.  Travel if necessary to customer sites to work with the client and their field personnel in an effort to address any issues or for obtaining field dimensions for the project.

Essential Duties + Responsibilities

Provides for a high degree of customer responsiveness and satisfaction. This position will interact with customers on a routine and significant basis.

  • Proficiencies in reading architectural/interior design/construction drawings.
  • Defining, measuring, & articulating accurately varied Architectural Woodworking & related scopes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills along with being a self-motivated problem solver.
  • Must possess ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects ranging from $500k to $2.5million plus.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of the construction industry/ job site operations along with competency in interior finish construction tools and equipment.
  • Strong ability to monitor and coordinate delivery, assembly, installation, and/or construction activities, ensure site measurements are accurate, understand cost impacts of labor efforts then identify and manage the scope of projects.
  • Must have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to “read” the personality of the customer and be alert and inquisitive to identify customer needs.
  • Professional demeanor who stays well-composed while under pressure maintaining positive attitude at all times in a demanding, fast-paced environment managing multiple projects at one time.
  • Using Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam PDF, & On-Screen computer programs.

Work Environment

The work environment for this position is primarily in an office setting. As W. B. Powell is a manufacturer of architectural millwork and casework the incumbent could also be exposed to dust, various temperatures, fumes and loud noise in the manufacturing setting. Due to periodic time spent on the manufacturing floor, the incumbent must be able to tolerate some exposure to these workplace characteristics. The incumbent must also follow allow company safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment while on the production floor.

  • Must be able to sit at desk for an eight-hour shift (with intermittent movement) as well as travel to job sites and vendors as required.
  • Occasionally will be required to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Full use of arms and hands to reach overhead, forward, and out to the sides to lift, rotate, carry, etc. wood products, tools, and equipment.
  • See, hear and communicate with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
  • Must be alert and aware of surrounding for safety concerns.

Competencies

  • Three (3) years minimum continuous & cumulative experience; preferably with custom, high-end, commercial woodworking companies with specific duties in Estimating, Manufacturing, Project Management, and / or Field Installation.
  • Education preferred: Formal education (i.e. 2 year degree, trade school, apprenticeship, etc.) beyond high school with an emphasis in architectural design, estimating, project management and / or wood related manufacturing.
  • Above average & demonstrable ability, knowledge, and experience with PC Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam PDF, and used for quantifying material & defining scope.
  • In-depth understanding of custom, high-end Architectural Woodworking industry, i.e., fixtures, wall & ceiling treatments, casework, running trim as well as the integration of other materials including stone, metal, upholstery, resin panels, acrylics, glass, and custom finishes, including the design, detail engineering, & installation considerations required for a complete turn-key delivered product.
